Do you have a greasy looking face and rising acne? If yes, then you might have oily skin.
Woman oily skin
The sebum producing glands of the skin are very active in people with oily skin. These glands secrete too much oil resulting in various skin related problems. If you have oily skin, you’ll concur that oil doesn’t only makes your face look quite glossy (and dark) but also results in bacterial growth that leads to big open pores, blackheads, or acne.
If your face is also secreting too much oil especially on areas like forehead, nose and down the chin, you can easily manage your oily skin by acting upon the following advice.
1: Use a Gel-based Cleanser regularly:
Don’t let the oil stay on your face for long because it leads to clogged pores and acnes. Wash your face at least 2-3 times in a day with a gel-based (or water-based) foaming cleanser. You can also try face wash having excellent oil-controlling ingredients like Salicylic Acid and turmeric, benzoyl peroxide, honey and olive oil.
2: Avoid Over Scrubbing:
Light scrubbing actually helps control the excess oil on your face, but too much scrubbing will do the opposite. Over scrubbing will remove the natural moisture of the face and lead sebaceous glands to produce more oil. A gentle scrub massage, just once or twice in a week is enough.
3: Don’t Say ‘No’ to Sunscreens:
It’s absolutely true that sunscreens will add to the greasiness and oily look of the face but avoiding them completely can lead to serious problems related to sun exposure like freckles, black spots and pigmentation. Use oil-free and gel-based sunscreens with double action formula that keeps your face matte while also giving good sun protection.
4: Use Mud Masks Frequently:
Mud Masks are best to repair face pores and absorb over secretion of oil. You can purchase mud masks containing Bentonite and Kaolin clay, Fuller’s Earth (known as Multani Matti) or any kind of mask with the primary function of tightening the face skin and absorbing excessive oil. Normally women use mud masks once in a week, but its frequent use can bring good results.
5: Regulate your Diet:
Experts suggest that in most cases, oily skin is an internal problem. This is why external products like cleansers, moisturizers, sunscreens etc. can only deal with the problem to a certain extent. Regulating your diet and minimizing the root cause is something you should be looking for.
Eat food that contains anti-oxidants such as leafy vegetables, carrots, blueberries, spinach and fruits. Foods containing fatty acids like almonds, walnuts, tuna and salmon are also vital for the skin. Last but not the least, don’t forget to drink a lot of water to combat your face oil and keep your skin fresh and hydrated.
Nature has blessed our skin with the right amount of oil which is needed to keep the skin healthy and moisturized. But some factors like humidity, pollution, dirt, excessive face washing, heat and hormonal changes can stimulate the production of oil, which is bad for your look and health of your skin. The tips shared in this article can be quite handy for ladies (or gentlemen) who are worried about oily skin.
